Welcoming Kids to Summer Camp starts with building relationships…only then can learning begin. (8:30-9:15am)
Our summer camp begins with an exciting opening activity, called FourSquare that sets the tone for an unforgettable experience kids select their opening activity each day.
During our welcome ceremony, the kids also meet camp leaders, teachers, and fellow innovators, get introduced to the day's activities, and participate in fun ice-breaker activities within FourSquare ,that make them feel at home right away.
Our Summer Camp engages kids real questions to build active learning relationships between teachers and students
Every great scientist starts with a curious question. Einstein often said that “Science is a refinement of everyday thinking” and at KSL we built our whole summer camp experience around that concept.
Our camp encourages children to ask big, curious questions that drive their investigations. We validate questions by writing them on the I Wonder Wall, as kids’ questions spark critical thinking and inspire them to discover the world around them through hands-on experiments and activities.
AM Discovery Science provides 8 hours per week of hands-on science to explore, investigate, and test with real science experiments in our summer camp. (9:15-10:30am)
Discovery Science is the heart of our camp with nearly 25% of the STEM activity time throughout the week to explore real science. Whether it's learning about chemistry, physics, biology, or earth sciences, we guide children through engaging experiments where they can observe, hypothesize, and test their ideas. They’ll not only understand how things work—they’ll see it firsthand!
Our Summer Camp uses our proprietary Creative Design STEM program for kids to apply science to real world engineering problems (10:45-12pm)
We don't just teach science—we give kids the tools to apply it! Our creative design challenges help students think like engineers. They work in teams to design solutions for real-world problems, applying core science and conceptual understanding that they've learned during earlier discovery science experiments. Leadership Games that boost communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills are new. (12:30-1pm)
Leadership and teamwork are key components of any successful summer camp. At Kids Science Labs, our mission is to enable the next generation of creative thinkers and leaders, so its central to our daily goals.
Through fun and engaging leadership games, children learn how to work together, build trust, and take initiative. These activities help develop skills that extend beyond science and support social-emotional growth. Unlike other summer camps in Chicago and Seattle, our students receive several hours per week of focused leadership development, through active games such as Stomp The Scientist, Journey to Problem-Solving Mountain, and Chain of Command.
Chicago and Seattle Summer Camp Outdoor Experience that builds social emotional learning and communication skills (1pm - 1:45pm)
Learning doesn't just happen indoors at Kids Science Labs award-winning summer camps! We offer things to do for kids and make time for outdoor activities that help children build physical skills, social connections, and resilience. Whether it's playing team games or exploring nature, these moments foster fun and lasting friendships.
Art and Creativity Studio offers well balanced approach to compliment basic science, design, and innovation with a daily class that boosts kids creativity. (1:45pm-2:30pm)
We know that creativity is an essential part of science. That's why our Art and Creativity Studio is an integral part of our camp. In this space, kids can combine their scientific knowledge with their artistic skills to create imaginative projects that bring science to life in a new way.
Closing Ceremony at Kids Science Labs takes learning to the next level with real world discussions (2:30-3pm)
The day ends with a closing ceremony where kids present their projects, share their discoveries, and engage in real-world discussions with fellow campers and camp leaders. This reflection time not only reinforces the day's learning but also boosts confidence and encourages lifelong learning.
Note: We do offer our families the benefit of an Extended Day Program at our beautiful locations, and if you need additional time to work after 3pm, it is our pleasure to support you and your child(ren).
Closure involves kids sharing their designs, communicating how they solved problems, and actively participating in thoughtful discussions that further elevate the class learning.
