STEM Teacher Vacancy

Kids Science Labs provides science teachers to accelerate STEM enrichment and boost hands-on science achievement for K-5th students at elementary schools.

Teacher Program #1 - “Our School needs to Boost our STEM Programs and work with our own Elementary and PREK Teachers”

We offer STEM enrichment support and real -hands-on science experiences for all 21 NGSS goals required in K-5th grade for schools in the United States. Your school may already have a wonderful teacher, and you would like to improve the quality or hands-on science engagement available to your students, and Kids Science Labs provides:

• A qualified and engaging hands-on science educator to partner with your teacher 1x per week for anywhere from 4 -24 weeks, as needed.

• All required NGSS-based hands-on science materials delivered to your school (or if you have unused Amplify Science Kits we can use those)

• STEM Kits for every student in your class, customized to the needs of your program.

• Professional Development and coaching for your teachers to increase their comfort with doing the best hands-on science available for K-5th students.

Teacher Program #2 - “Our School is missing an Engaging Science Teacher now”

Kids Science Labs has qualified science teachers and an approved curriculum that is expertly matched to Amplify Science to provide weekly awesome hands-on science experiences for students in PreK - 5th Grade.

• We temporarily staff our science teachers on your campus for 1 month up to 6 months, until you fill your teacher vacancy

• We teach K-5th hand-on science experiences 1-2x per week, at your campus

• We cam push into classrooms or use an existing STEM Lab/Maker Space to conduct science classes.

• We provide all science materials and are also able to use existing Amplify Science Kits that may be on-site and unused.

Teacher shortages may occur at the most unfortunate time for our nation’s students, and with science, our regions are often well short of their need for qualified science teachers. Often the easiest choice for schools is to partner with Kids Science Labs with OST Programs, In-School STEM Labs (recurring science classes, 45 minutes every week), or to offer Field Trips for each classroom until your teacher shortage can be addressed. Please just tell us how we can help, as we partner with over 200 schools in Chicago and are fortunate to be in a position to help.

How much Does Teacher Vacancy Cost?

Kids Science Labs can often support your school for as little as $150/class session depending on the length of engagement, including providing science kits, all NGSS materials, and a teacher to lead the experiments at least 1x per week for all K-5th grades at your school. Note that schools using the KSL Teacher Vacancy Program, must still provide a SECA or Assistant to support students during the school day, as our teachers will lead the science engaement and experiments. We have a CPS Vendor Number (#15968) for your PO.

Students are curious and they like to actually do the experiments themselves, building, breaking, mixing, and exploring hands-on science from the most basic push and pull forces to complex experiments in thermal energy for middle schoolers. We have learned since 2014, that we have built a strong history in training science teachers at Kids Science Labs through our Summer Teacher Training Institute, and it is our pleasure to be able to lend support to our school partners when they have a shortage.

• Weekly hands-on science experiences, weekly from 8am-3pm covering up to five classrooms/day

• Engaging 45-minute classes that exceed NGSS requirements for core science and cross-cutting concepts

• STEAM Kits delivered for every student can continue the science at-home.

• Weekly Newsletters that inform parents and key stakeholders about each week.
