Kids Science Labs offers the most mad science of northern Illinois available for kids

KSL boosts kids academic performance with mad science experiments twelve months a year

Kids are curious and its our opportunity to engage them and help their discovery. Whether they are opening jars of liquids, breaking their toys by “accident” or asking endless questions, a science experiment awaits to tickle their curiosity at Kids Science Labs. Some experiments are curious, and others offer mad science explosions that get kids excited about learning more and building confidence with science fats.

KSL has a mad science lab that is full of weekly programs to inspire and unlock the curiosity in kids using the most engaging Powerscience curriculum.

Our mad science labs of northern Illinois, conveniently located in a our 3,000sf Kids Science Labs in the heart of Northbrook, just minutes away from Wilmette, Glenview, and Skokie, offers summer camps, holiday break camps, slime birthday parties, and chemical reaction parties.

Birthday Parties | Summer Camps | Holiday Break Camps for Kids

Since 2010, Kids Science Labs has transformed science education, using mad science experiments that kids love, including our Explorers (3-5), Investigators (6-8) and Innovators (9-12). Whether you are considering having a kids birthday party in northern Illinois that is easy to plan and memorable, or provide your child a boost in motivation and with their Science Facts using one of our elite summer camps, we are here to support the growth of your child.

Best hands-on science classes available in Chicago and Seattle are in our STEM Labs and Field Trips at KSL

Foundations are like the roots of a building! They help our houses and towers stand tall and strong in the face of wind, storms, and other environmental factors.

  • By investigating the materials that foundations can be made of, like layers of concrete, rocks, or sand, kids are building real-world connections that the buildings we see all around us also have a part of their structure below ground.

  • Kids are experimenting with factors that can affect the strength of a building’s foundation, such as how deep into the Earth the building goes, or the composition of the soil where we’re trying to build!

  • Beyond seeing that foundations going down into the Earth help to make our buildings safe, kids are exploring what happens when we create additional design elements that real engineers use, such as pilings, which are sturdy posts that drive deep into the ground.

How do they make bridges able to hold up mega ton trucks without falling?

In our cities and towns, kids see things like roads, buildings, and bridges! On Thursday, we began our investigation into the problems that Civil Engineers help us to solve! One important job that Civil Engineers have is designing bridges that can withstand extreme weather conditions, let cars and people safely pass, and sometimes even lift up to let boats and other large water vehicles through! Our engineers tested out how different materials like pipe cleaners or popsicle sticks can help us to distribute the weight of something heavy, for example a cup of rocks. But as kids experienced in designing their own bridges, even if you’ve got a super sturdy piece of cardboard that can hold up a heavy jar of pennies… what happens if you add another jar on top? Or if you make the supporting beams of your structure using something flimsy like folded up paper? At home, test out how you can share the load and design a bridge to cross over the bathtub!

Our summer camps, such as Engineering University gives a great opportunity for parents to solve real problems.
