Engineering University is available for kids to use STEM to solve everyday problems at Kids Science Labs

How can I make a fun game for my friends using basic science?

Whether we’re climbing the stairs or carrying a backpack with a bunch of heavy books, adults and kids alike do work every day. Engineers work diligently to understand the physics and properties of materials that enable us to work even faster, easier, and more effectively. As Mechanical Engineers on Friday, kids experimented with everyday “sticks” that apply forces (that are actually simple machines called levers), as well as ramps that help us move heavy loads up and down more easily (known as inclined planes). Mechanical Engineers innovate the pumps, planes, factories, vehicles, and power-producing machines that make life easier. To put our own engineering skills into practice, we combined the cool physics of motion with the excitement of moving a ball through a a maze, leaving our scientists primed to hit the ground running to design their own Pinball Machines! Enjoy the science-powered game your child imagined and created, made especially for enjoyment at home with loved ones!

How Does Kids Science Labs work?

Why does hands-on science matter so much to kids?

Kids science Labs isn't the old science class we had a kids. It’s better!

We are all curious about something. Hands-on science is simply investigating the questions that matter to us by physically doing something to learn. Kids ask so many good questions and many of us learn best by touching and experimenting with real stuff, rather than just reading, watching, or listening. As parents, we want our kids to think about the world to solve problems, and hands-on science is the best tool for teaching problem solving, offering real context, and making the neural connections that enhance creativity and critical thinking in way that improves long term success for kids.

Neuroscience and Neuroplasticity is behind the success at Kids Science Labs with engaging kids while building beautiful minds

If you have spoken to me before, then you have probably heard me talk so much about neuroscience and how kids brains work so differently than our own. Kids don't follow the rules, the create new ones that are not anchored by our reality. But its real to them, and it allows them to see a solution where we don't see it at all. If you ever want to invent something awesome, just listen to what you kids say during the day, because there ability to flow through a problem and find a solution, is limited only by the ability for you to stop long enough to believe that their solution is indeed possible.

We are too focused on knowledge based academic structures, that reward getting all the answers right, versus thinking about the answers differently. "Wondering Why Can Change The World" is one of our core values at KSL and it is a pleasure to be able to observe the beautiful minds of kids as young as 18 months old figure out ways to overcome the same challenges that rules teach us are limits to our future. They are not. We just lack imagination. It's time to start using it, just like our kids.
