Why Summer Camp at KSL is Great

What are the projects?

We want to make science resonate with our students each and every day. A great way to accomplish that is to create hands-on projects your kids can customize with their imagination.

Science can be intimidating, but it doesn’t need to be. Building a bridge allows us to talk about topics like compression and strength of materials. We bring simple machines to life by designing pinball machines (wedge) or bicycle wheels out of cardboard.

Science Wasn’t any fun for me in School - why will my kids like it

Science is intended to be experienced and there is no better way than hands-on science experiments. Unfortunately, as we progress in our academic careers science often becomes theoretical, focused on equations, and we lose the magic of doing, breaking, making mistakes, and iterating.

That is why KSL is different, we want to make science what it is intended to be…..understanding how the world works, from the bounce in our shoes, to how engines work, all the way to the neurons in our brain.

Here is a talk by Neil deGrass Tyson that inspires us

How did KSL Start?

Kids Science Labs was created to solve a problem that mattered. Kids love science, exploring, mixing every ingredient in your kitchen, taking apart electronics - but they often don’t have a place to investigate and ask questions they care about.

What do the founders of Kids Science Labs have in common with their fans? An appreciation for the limitless potential of a good question. See a featured article from The University Of Chicago Booth

How do we make science interesting?

As humans we are wired to want to learn more about topics we have a little knowledge of. If we can present a concept in a way a child connects it to their World, it is only natural to want to understand more.

Problem solving develops creativity, persistence, a proactive growth mindset and prepares children for real life in the real world.

We cannot imagine what the World will look like in 20 years, but we believe we can enable our students to solve the problems of tomorrow by enabling them to think differently, retain their curiosity, and giving them permission to be creative.

How much does it cost

We work hard to keep our pricing reasonable. Our prices range from $380 Half Day (NB only) to $495 Full Day for our South Loop, Northbrook, and Roscoe Village locations, and $575 for our Green Lake location.

Kids are grouped by age (3 yr age range) we do our best to accommodate friend requests.
